Scenic Sandpoint, Idaho -- home to a ruling elite worthy of Soviet Russia. With those words, which are found near the end of an August 8 motion to dismiss a spurious battery charge against Sandpoint, Idaho resident Rita Hutchens, the author – Bonner County Chief Deputy Prosecutor Shane Greenbank – incriminates himself. Rita Hutchens is a tiny 57-year-old internationally respected quilt artist who has never committed a violent act against anybody. She was accused of “criminal battery” because she threw a ballpoint pen at a desk in the Sandpoint City Hall while doing research for a potential lawsuit against the city. Greenbank, whose flair for rhetorical exaggeration would strike a hormonal adolescent girl as excessive, accused Hutchens of “willfully and unlawfully us[ing] force or violence upon the person of Melissa Ward.” Bear in mind that this was not a case in which a pen was employed as a shank, as occurred in a previous episode here in Idaho, nor was the pen hurled like a javelin. It was tossed carelessly at a desk, which means that there was no criminal intent – an indispensable element of an actual crime. “There was no reason to touch her,” Judge Buchanan observed.

By Susan Duclos Ran across this video browsing YouTube and it is a man seeing strange moving lights that he captures on video. The family can be heard in the background and one by one he calls them over to watch. The light disappears periodically and then reappears and while the excited talking of the people surrounding him over the strange unexplained lights are a little distracting, it is understandable. It is described in the YouTube details as a "blobbing pulsating and exploding light in the sky." What is it?

There’s a website called peopleofwalmart.com, to which readers can send — and get published — candid photos they’ve taken of odd-looking shoppers in various Wal-Marts across the U.S.
Periodically I go on the website to cull pictures for my “People of Walmart” posts on FOTM (scroll down for our collection). I do them as a way to chronicle how Americans have lost our sense of propriety. Too many of us don’t make even a minimum effort at pulling ourselves together before we go out of our homes, but instead parade our slovenly appearances for the world to see.
By now, the term “People of Walmart” has taken on a meaning that goes beyond Wal-Mart stores, referring in general to men and women whose appearances make us reach for a bottle of sanitizing eye-bleach and, sometimes, mind-bleach as well.
Yesterday, I posted Part One of “People of Walmart Go to the Beach” – on the women. Today is Part Two, on men and indeterminate gender.

At a time when President Obama and Russian President Vladimir Putin appear to be clashing over the extradition of Edward Snowden, it’s hard to imagine signing an agreement that allows Russian troops to provide security at events on US soil… but that’s exactly what the Obama Administration did recently. According to an agreement signed in Washington, DC last week between FEMA and the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry, Russian troops can now be deployed to provide security at so-called “National Special Security Events,” such as the Super Bowl and G8 summits. This is a perfect example of the smoke and mirrors tactic that the Obama Administration has been using throughout his presidency. Their motto is: ”Never let a crisis go to waste.” In this case, they’re simply using the NSA crisis to distract Americans as they adopt disastrous measures to weaken American sovereignty.
